Simple to use wearable sleep aid based on the science of brainwave entrainment
DreamOn is a patented wearable device that emits gentle pulses designed to help you relax and drift off to sleep. DreamOn also features an app that includes sleep tracking, and a selection of audio tracks for unwinding, meditation, and to listen to as you fall asleep.
After a highly successful IndieGoGo campaign at the end of 2018, and several revisions of prototypes, DreamOn is now available to buy at the webstore for $149.
Who is DreamOn designed for?
DreamOn can be used by anyone of any age who’s seeking a non-invasive, non-pharmacological way to help them fall asleep. It’s simple to use, discreet and doesn’t emit any EMF emissions whilst you’re wearing it.
DreamOn can also help you to get back to sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night and fall asleep faster if you’re trying to take a nap in the daytime.
How does DreamOn work?
When you activate DreamOn, it produces subtle tactile pulses which can be felt on your wrist, ankle or wherever you choose to wear the device. The pulses continue for around 15 minutes after which the device switches off automatically.
This principle behind DreamOn is based on a technique known as brainwave entrainment. This involves the use of an external stimulus (light, sound, or in this case vibrations) to bring about a desired brain state. When you direct mindful attention to the pulsing sensation of DreamOn, neurons in your brain are activated, which help to synchronise your brainwaves to frequencies associated with slow wave sleep (SWS).
With repeated use, users can build a conditioned response to the pulses so that it can automatically yield the desired effect, helping you fall asleep with no conscious effort.
Features and Specifications
Weighing only 2 ounces (< 60g), DreamOn is fabricated from ABS plastic and features an adjustable neoprene strap. In the box you also get a separate small wrist band to fit child sizes.
There’s a micro USB port for charging, and DreamOn takes around 3 hours to fully charge. Battery life is around 7 days for typical use. Inside the device is a 3-axis accelerometer for tracking sleep, the data which can be viewed in the companion app.
The DreamOn app is available for iOs and Android devices and as well as being able to connect to your wearable to adjust the frequency of the entrainment signal, the app also features a library of audio content, including meditation, sounds, binaural beats and sleep stories. The app can also tell you about your sleep habits, using the device’s built in movement sensor. This data is viewable as a nightly sleep report.
